A dog friendly walk near Llanwrst
If you’re looking for a picturesque place to relax and unwind with your furry friend, look no further than Llyn Geirionydd in North Wales. Situated in the Y Wyddfa (Snowdonia) National Park near the quaint town of Llanrwst, it is a beautiful lake surrounded by rolling hills and woodlands.
Getting to Llyn Geirionydd is accessed by car. It’s worth noting that the road to the lake is narrow and single track so you may meet other cars and have to manoeuvre so each of you can pass.
There is a car park on-site, with ample room but it can get busy at peak times due to the lake's popularity with dog walkers, swimmers, and water sports fanatics. That said, we’ve never struggled to park and it’s well worth a visit. We’ve often found getting there early morning, or later afternoon seems to be the best time for parking.
From the car park, you can follow a well-marked path that winds around the lake. It makes for a great walk and is suitable for all levels of fitness. Once you reach the lake, you and your pup can enjoy the beautiful scenery and take a dip in the crystal-clear water. If you’re looking for a longer walk, there are several other well-marked paths to follow as well. So whether you and your pooch are looking for a simple stroll, or something more challenging hike you’ve got plenty of choice.
There are plenty of places to stop and take a rest. There are also several picnic tables and benches around the lake, so you can enjoy a snack with your pup in peace. Toilets are also free and well-kept on-site.
