Discover the Ruins of Deganwy Castle

Updated: Mar 8

Don‘t be fooled by the name, although the walk is called Deganwy Castle, there isn’t actually much of it left. What you will find on this dog friendly walk in Deganwy though is absolutely stunning views of Conwy, Conwy castle, the estuary and Llandudno. You won’t be suprised why someone once chose to build a castle here - and it’s definitely the case that photos don’t do the views justice.

Your pooch will love roaming around the what’s left of the old ruins, whilst climbing mounds and rolling in fields.

A dog friendly walk in Deganwy

Walking level: mid - you can do a lot of flat walking, but if you really want to take in the scenery you will need to go up and down some steep mounds

Time to walk: We spend about 45 minutes to an 1 hour here

Busyness: Low - medium depending on the time of year

Parking – Road side parking, you’ll then follow a path to get to it. Park on Gannock park road. Image below to demonstrate where abouts to park in red, and the walking path in yellow.

Facilities – None

On or off lead walk – Can be both, depending on where you walk (there are some sheep in the fields) and your comfort level at letting your dog free to climb.

Address: Deganwy, Conwy LL31 9PJ. Park on Gannock Park Road

This is a great dog friendly walk not too far away from Conwy or Llandudno - A 10-15 minute drive away max. Or if you live or are staying anywhere in Deganwy, given it’s not a massive place, you’ll be able to get to it super easy by just walking.
